Actually, they are more blue grey (see last picture), but I couldn't deal with my work not being black and white, so I have used a black and white filter over the first image (which I prefer) It is a copy of a drawing that is attributed to #masterofthegiants (who was possibly either #princehoare (1755–1834) or #jamesjefferys (1751–1784).

This is a drawing of the middle section of a fresco that Michelangelo never actually got round to making. Many preparatory sketches survived, but the best idea of how the piece would have looked is a copy by one of Michelangelo's students, Bastiano da Sangallo. The scene depicts the Florentine army who were bathing in the river when they were surprise attacked by the Pisans, which I suppose is one way to explains all that nudity and bare bums!

Some ancient Greek things...
Pen drawings. And then I drew the Nubian God, Bes, so not jist Greek. Found this when taking things from home to my stuido. I think I shall pick up this again as I am feeling inspired again by myths and legends after visiting the #metamorphoses exhibition at the @rijksmuseum the other day...

This is an @aboutblanks notebook that I got at @sjakieshaarlem
The cover is great (though I forgot to take a photo) It's made from an old English-Dutch dictionary, but they took the pages out and bound blank pages inside. Paper quality is not great for drawing as the ink bleeds through, so I draw on alternate pages with some cardboard behind. The whole thing fell apart, as you cant lay it flat or open it too wide. This makes for a really challenging way of drawing (especially on location) but I always like how your medium dictates how I draw, meaning I have to do quicker sketches and find pens that work well with the pages. Will share a video of the whole thing later...

𝐜𝐚𝐟é 𝐑. 𝐝𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚
A 30 minute POV drawing of one of my favourite cafés for a lekker bakkie or a cheeky wijntje: Queer café @cafe.r.de.rosa in the Jordaan. I tried to draw using a point of view grid I had seen on @prolificmurals feed. I was a but too bold and rushed with the pen (I didn't plot it out with pencil first!), so made plenty of perspective mistakes, but wanted to share it nonetheless...

I always found this painting fascinating and got the chance to see it at the Ruben's House in Antwerp as part of the exhibition 'Antwerp Homecoming' back in 2018. My version was created with a Japanese brush pen and a selection of grey tone alcohol markers. I used a grid system to copy it, cutting up the squares like a jigsaw and drawing them bit by bit, which created an almost abstract quality in places (scroll to see some of the details) It is the biggest piece I have created for some time at 100cm x 70cm.

Some sketchbook pages...
I already share a little video of this book, but in case you wanted a better look. If you didn't hear the story already: In 2024, I started this sketchbook when I went on a trip to Bolgona with my friend. It went with me to London, Ibiza, Berlin, Antwerp, and various day trips. Pretty much everything in it was drawn while out and about, and it took me all year to fill it. When we went to Ibiza for New Year, I had 3 pages left to fill, so I took it with me and filled the pages. Yippie. What a sense of fulfilment. When we were travelling back, I popped it in my bag along with a fancy new water bottle I had gotten for Christmas. Made from glass, with a protective sleave, I decided to remove the sleave as it looks cooler without it. Bad idea. The glass broke, and the entire bottle of water leaked over the sketchbook (somehow missing my passport, camera, and other bits and bobs in my bag) Oddly enough, it wasnt the end of the world. The book buckled and lost its form a little, a lot of ink ran (depending on the pen I had used) and most drawings stayed visible. The worst damaged seemed to be on the pages with bold drawings and some of the text pieces even seemed to match with the chaos ('Things Fall Apart'). Anyhoo, here are some of my favourite pages...
